Need help with pain medication for major surgery

I have a hysterectomy planned back in the states but my gynecologist, covered with my specific insurance, who I have been seeing for years says she doesn't prescribe any opiod medication. My pain tolerance is low, im old, and I was wondering if I can get some from Bangkok while I'm here so I can use it after my surgery. I don't know any names for these kind of medications I only know that post op in hospital they use hydromorphone or whatever. What are medications called that are strong enough for major surgery pain that I can ask a pharmacist and what would be the pharmacies I can go to with these medications..I would really appreciate if someone told me. Why are the canals and river so underused in Bangkok?

In many cities, the river is usually the highlight of the city. You're often able to walk/bike the length of it, there are parks/plazas to bring people together, lots of eateries and other interesting features. In Bangkok, the river boats are kinda neat and there are a few isolated areas popping up that you can walk and stay, but by and large a lot of the river is off limits. Same story with canals. In a lot of cities that are lucky enough to have canals, they're often very pretty with some of the city's best architecture lining them, flowers and other things to make them more beautiful and also a place where people would walk/bike (I guess Netherlands would be the most obvious example of highlighting your canals). But in Bangkok, these areas are often an afterthought and often extremely dirty. Finally, a somewhat related question. Is Ong Ang River Walk pretty much dead these days? I've seen old videos where it looked very vibrant, with lights, decorations, live mus...

Best area for Introverted Expat

I'm looking to spend all of May and June in Bangkok. I'm an introverted engineer from Canada.
