Navigating Bangkok’s Hustler Culture - Am I Being Too Skeptical?

I’m in a 30 year age gap relationship. My partner is retired and financially comfortable, mostly living in Bangkok. I’m still working, earn well, and don’t rely on her financially. She enjoys spending time with younger, ambitious expats entrepreneurs, hustlers, creatives often in bar and social scenes. I genuinely support her staying social and feeling energized by younger crowds. What I’ve started noticing, though, is a pattern. Some people are very eager to hang out with her, invite her out, build rapport and then later the conversation shifts to business ideas, investment opportunities, or needing capital. It sometimes feels less like friendship and more like positioning. I also notice that a lot of people describe themselves as “entrepreneurs,” but it’s often vague what they actually do or how they make money. That makes me skeptical. I’m not trying to insult anyone. I know there are plenty of genuine, hardworking expats in Bangkok. I’m just trying to check myself. Am I being...

Planning to move to Bangkok with DTV – rent & budget questions

I’ve been planning to move to Bangkok for about 10 months using the DTV visa, but I still have some doubts and I’d really appreciate advice from people who are already there. Rent: Staying long term in Airbnb looks expensive, so I’m more interested in renting a condo. I like the idea because many buildings include gym, pool, security, sometimes even coworking areas, etc. I’ve been checking some websites and I see condos in the 400–600 USD range, which sounds good to me. What I don’t understand is how people usually secure them . Is it better to: book short term accommodation and search once I arrive? or try to arrange something while still in my home country? I’m a bit worried about sending deposits remotely without seeing the place first. Any recommended areas?Im gonna be working remotely. Is it easy rent? Budget: I see very different numbers online. Some people say you can live with 1k, others spend 4–5k. My idea was around 1400–1500 EUR per month , trying to keep cost...

Did that dumb thing we all end up doing, left my debit card in the ATM. What do I do?

I know you gotta call, and if it's an independent ATM, you gotta wait a bit and the send it to a branch for you to pick up. But WHO do I call? And do I need to get a Thai translator? Pretty sure it was a Krungsri ATM. submitted by /u/petrichorax [link] [comments] The Bangkok Community https://ift.tt/51Jr2bX Bangkok Hotel Deals

Trying to find a real healer in Bangkok for health related issues

Hi everyone — does anyone know of real healers in Bangkok (spiritual or holistic)? I’m looking for someone who can: • sense or read what’s going on in your body/mind • work with trauma, tension, emotional blocks, etc. I know someone great in Bali, but I’m curious if there’s anyone like that based in Bangkok — someone experienced and trusted. Any recommendations would be awesome, especially if they’re good at trauma release and deep healing. ❤️ submitted by /u/Practical-Dig-1189 [link] [comments] The Bangkok Community https://ift.tt/puacK4M Bangkok Hotel Deals

Bike rent for Thai journey

Hi! Im looking for a good dealer in bangkok (or not far away) where i can rent a scooter or motorbike to drive up to chiang mai and back. So i think i have to rent for maybe a hole month. I heard before that its possible to rent scooters for about 5 eur/day in thai. But cant find anything cheap like this on the internet. Anyone have knowledge? And yes, i have a (international) license and much years of experience driving fast bikes (also on racetracks). So i i hope the only risk would be the crazy traffic here 😅 Greets submitted by /u/sBullet13 [link] [comments] The Bangkok Community https://ift.tt/v0ADo9w Bangkok Hotel Deals

Any cafes or restos where we can sit back, relax and have a chat with fris ?

looking for recommendations of any good places to hang out with friends and just enjoy the time there chilling ? We are tired of doing some sort of activities or walk around the touristy busy places. We just wanna escape from typical BKK chaos and have a chat in a pretty clam and quiet spot. Clubs in bkk that don’t check id ?

I’m in my last year of school and really want to have the bkk clubbing experience before I leave, I’m legal in my home country but I doubt I’ll be allowed into the quite posh ones here! I really want to find a compromise between a good club that’s relaxed on id checks and somewhere that isn’t super dodgy. I don’t know anyone my age who goes out so I literally don’t know! I don’t even care abt drinking I literally just want to dance to good music. submitted by /u/Brave-Hedgehog-4891 [link] [comments] The Bangkok Community https://ift.tt/NQD5FOw Bangkok Hotel Deals
