Sharing a recent experience in Bangkok that may be useful for other travelers.
This happened on April 21, 2026.
I matched with a girl on Tinder named “Anna” and met her at Salt Bar&Club Bangkok after she suggested the place.
The venue looked like a typical nightlife bar — music, drinks, hookah, tourists. Nothing unusual at the beginning.
We sat down and started ordering drinks.
Over time, more drinks and bottles were added — mostly whiskey, cocktails, and later champagne. It wasn’t one single order, but a continuous flow of additions throughout the night while we were seated with my date.
My date was actively encouraging ordering more and repeatedly reassured me not to worry about pricing.
What surprised me the most was that she was also drinking heavily during the night. I personally didn’t drink nearly as much as she did — she probably had at least half of the drinks, if not more. Despite that, she seemed completely fine the entire time and not noticeably intoxicated.
Meanwhile, I started feeling unusually off as the night went on, and my memory of parts of the evening is not very clear, which is not typical for me.
After about 2–3 hours, I asked for the bill.
It came out to over 150,000 baht (more than $5,000 USD equivalent), spread across several receipts from the same night.
When I tried to pay, my card didn’t go through at first, and I had to split the payment into multiple transactions.
During that process, I noticed security standing nearby and closer to the exit than earlier in the night, which made me feel uncomfortable and added pressure to the situation.
My date, who had been friendly the entire time, also became distant at that point.
Because of the overall situation and how stressed I felt, I completed the payment.
After leaving, she also left separately and I didn’t hear from her again.

I’m not accusing anyone of anything specific or claiming how things were organized. I’m just sharing my personal experience so others can be cautious when meeting Tinder dates in nightlife settings and always confirm pricing clearly before ordering anything.
I decided to post this after seeing a recent thread describing a very similar experience in Pattaya. A lot of the details felt surprisingly similar, which is what made me think it might be worth sharing my own experience as well.
