How do foreign tattoo artists actually do guest spots in Thailand?

I keep seeing international tattoo artists doing guest spots in Bangkok, Phuket etc all the time.
So now I’m genuinely curious how it works legally lol. Do studios actually arrange work permits for short stays or is it kinda one of those “everyone knows but nobody talks about it” situations?
Not judging anyone btw, just curious because it seems super common now.
